The Royal Melbourne Hospital Allied Health

Part of BLP’s ongoing redevelopment works at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, this four storey addition rehouses the allied health clinical and office areas from temporary portable accommodation to a purpose built facility. Allied Health provides an essential clinical service at both Melbourne Health campuses and is comprised of 12 distinct professional disciplines that provide direct clinical care and support to inpatients, outpatients and their carers.

The fit-for-purpose facilities create a seamless patient journey and provide an environment conducive to patient and staff safety. Patient areas include gym and therapy spaces and consulting rooms while an open plan staff zone above enhances multi-disciplinary interaction for patient care planning.

Large scale photographic imagery acts as wayfinding prompts to the different areas of health assistance including physio, speech therapy and music therapy, with positive and active attributes. Staff and training areas, feature curved timber screens, creating softer overlapping connections between training, office and breakout spaces.
