Account of Billard Leece Partnership's work for Affinity (formerly Mayne Health) in formulating Generic Designs for Private Hospitals
Billard Leece was engaged to prepare guidelines and generic designs for Affinity to be rolled out for new works and refurbishments to their 50 private hospitals. This involved dimensional analysis and recommendations, room layouts and design, fittings and fixtures selection and co-ordination, colours and finishes selection.
The typical rooms produced included: combinations of bedrooms, ensuites, staff bases, ward corridors, and waiting/day rooms. It was progressively refined to incorporate the quirks of the differing state regulations and requirements.
Billard Leece have also been involved with masterplanning and projects for a number of Affinity's Victorian hospitals. These include: Melbourne Private Hospital, Frances Perry House, John Fawkner Private Hospital, Victorian Rehabilitation Centre (Eastern), Victorian Rehabilitation Centre(Northern), Warringal Private Hospital, Mentone Private Hospital, Masada Private Hospital, Mt Waverley Private Hospital, Sunbury Private Hospital, Geelong Private Hospital, Shepparton Private Hospital and Wangaratta Private Hospital. The projects at these hospitals incorporate a broad range of hospital functional units including Ward areas, Day Surgery and Endoscopy facilities, Theatre and CSSD works, Administration, Medical Records, Rehabilitation spaces, Reception and waiting areas, Pathology and Diagnostic Imaging facilities, as well as consulting suites. A number of these have been completed, or are currently under construction.
