This second stage of redevelopment for the Hospital comprises 30 sub-acute beds and a Community Rehabilitation Centre (CRC) in a two storey building. The CRC provides an interdisciplinary rehabilitation service to people of all ages who are disabled, frail, chronically ill or recovering from traumatic injury as well as counselling and support for families or other carers. The Specialist Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Ward with Geriatric Evaluation Management (GEM) Unit provides goal-centred care to enable the patient to maintain and improve functionality, gain independence and to assist them in their home environment.

The Specialist Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Ward with GEM Unit caters to older people with complex, chronic or multiple healthcare conditions. GEM is goal-centred care to enable the patient to maintain and improve functionality, gain independence and to assist them in their home environment.
