Construction of Stage 1 of Ramsay Health Care’s Strategic Master Plan at Westmead Private Hospital has commenced. Designed by Billard Leece Partnership (BLP), the development comprises a two level contemporary day surgery centre within the hospital’s central atrium, a new digital operating theatre and two additional ICU beds, which enable complex surgeries such as cardiac and neuro surgeries to continue close to home for the Western Sydney community.
The team, led by Associate Director Adam Muggleton, worked closely with Ramsay Health Care to design a high end experience for patients and their loved ones, tailored to private healthcare expectations and a “club lounge” feel.
Working within the existing facility, the new space features a gentle palette of colours, materials and finishes to instill a sense of exclusivity and calm.
Tara Veldman, Director, said “We are excited to be part of this project. We have worked extensively with Ramsay over the last 10 years on a number of very successful projects across Australia, we feel this project has a distinctly powerful message, to ensure that the patient’s experience is at the centre of everything we design, from the layout of patient care areas, to the selection of finishes. This project seeks to exceed the community’s expectations – not just meet.”
CEO of Westmead Private Hospital, Michael Flatley said he was very proud of the organisation’s vision for the first stage of the master plan and was excited about the hospital’s bright future.
Early works commenced this year, and the overall project is scheduled for completion in early 2018.
