Welcome to 2019:
A message from our Directors

2018 was a truly memorable year for BLP. We thank our clients, collaborators and team for sharing their successes with us.

New outlook for BLP Studios

Both our Melbourne and Sydney studios moved to new locations. After 19 years in our Flinders Street location opposite Federation Square, BLP Melbourne now enjoy panoramic views from La Trobe Street across Flagstaff Gardens, the CBD and beyond. BLP Sydney’s move to a spacious new location on Cooper Street with fantastic rooftop terrace views of Sydney’s skyline is a testament to our energetic growth with major projects in health, schools and universities, and of our interiors/workplaces team.

Both new studios showcase the talents of our in-house interiors/workplace teams; their innovative, agile and collaborative studio designs have created inspirational spaces which we love working in.

We celebrated our team’s diversity and cultural harmony, for which we were awarded a 2018 Victorian Multicultural Award for Excellence. With over 140 people from at least 23 different countries and cultures, our practice embodies the benefits of diversity and collaboration for innovation.

Construction to completion

The past year has also seen a significant number of exciting projects completed including flagship workplaces for Fujitsu Melbourne and Fujitsu Auckland, Maroondah Hospital Breast and Cancer Centre, Melton Health and Community Services building, BlueCross Box Hill Residence Redevelopment, MannaCare Capital Works Project and Orygen Youth Health.

No 1. Lacey, a multi-residential warehouse conversion in the heart of Sydney completed for Cornerstone with BKH, won three Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW awards, including the prestigious President’s Award. This achievement underscores our fundamental urban design approach.

Early 2019 will see the University of Melbourne Werribee Vet School UVet Hospital and Learning and Teaching Building, Stokes and Penola Preston Renewal Project, and Bulli Aged Care Centre of Excellence developments completed on site.

Works in progress

In New South Wales, construction on Picton High School, St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Emergency Department, and the University of Sydney Stage 1 Health Precinct Building is well underway.

In Victoria, construction continues on Barwon Health Northern Health Hub, Goulburn Valley Health Shepparton Stage 1 Redevelopment, CSL’s major expansion of their Broadmeadows site and 4 schools as part of the Victorian School Building Authority’s New Schools 2020 project.

Projects in design and documentation include Fisherman Bend Secondary School (one of only a handful of vertical schools in Victoria), Baptcare Strathalan Integrated Community, four schools across New South Wales, North Shore Health Hub, and some exciting workplace, health, and student residential projects. We can’t wait to share these with you as they develop.

We wish everyone a positive start to 2019 and an exciting and successful year ahead. We look forward to working with you as we continue to grow and strengthen our business.
